Editing / hire me

I'm currently available to hire for freelance publishing, editing, writing, and consulting work. I'm highly skilled in manuscript appraisals, developmental and structural editing, as well as copy editing and proofreading. My broad experience—which feeds into me understanding exactly how to help a manuscript reach its potential—is based on having worked on many published books (as well as short stories, essays, academic pieces, and more), but is also honed by much other work: I've judged several major literary awards, I've written many successful literary grant applications, and I've also been an assessor for various grant application rounds. I ran an international writing prize for years, I've mentored writers through their early careers, and I've hosted and appeared on many panels and other events. I've lectured and tutored for years at universities in writing and publishing courses, and have run many workshops at writers centres, libraries, and writers festivals. I’ve acquired books and negotiated contracts, I’ve overseen the design, production, distribution, sales, marketing and publicity for many books and also a literary magazine, I’ve sold overseas and other subsidiary rights for book titles, and have processed royalties for authors. I’ve chaired advisory committees, consulted for governments on publishing activities, and completed major research projects. All up, my deep and varied professional experience means that I can likely help you with your project, and I am fast, flexible and creative in my work.
